South FLORIDA, the U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS of the Caribbean, and the HAWAIIAN ISLANDS and AMERICAN SAMOA of the Pacific all lie less than 30 degrees from the Equator and are part of the HUMID TROPICAL ecoregion of the United States.
By the very geographical positioning of the above land and islands, the following are the dominate terrestrial biomes of this ecoregion:
- Tropical Savanna (Grassland)
- Tropical Rainforest
Likewise, the nature of its latitudinal and altitudinal position of the land give the region both abundant Freshwater and Marine aquatic biomes.
The varying altitudinal landscape on the island of HAWAII also provide a small segment of Tundra and Mountain terrestrial biomes.
See below for a list of National Parks and other parks, natural areas, and forests within this ecoregion represented in my photos.
